Holy Week at St Mark’s

From the Cross… to the Light… to Resurrection Joy

Holy Week is the heart of the Christian story.
We walk with Jesus from the table, to the cross, through the quiet of waiting, and into the joy of resurrection.

You are invited to join us for one service… or walk the whole journey together.

Maundy Thursday — 2 April, 6:30pm

Given and Shed for You

We remember Jesus’ last meal with his disciples and his command to love one another.
This reflective service includes confession and absolution, foot washing, and Holy Communion.
We receive again Christ’s forgiveness and grace as we enter the stillness of the night.

Good Friday — 3 April, 9:00am

Staying with the Cross

Our Good Friday worship begins with a Procession of the Cross, with Young at Heart carrying the cross and others following behind. The cross is placed at the front as the focus for worship.

Youth will also lead a series of prayers during this quiet and contemplative service.
Scripture, silence, and Holy Communion help us remain at the cross and reflect on Christ’s love for the world.

Easter Saturday — 4 April, 5:30pm and meal 6.15pm

Waiting with the Promise — Easter Light Service

Easter Saturday is a gentle twilight service of waiting and hope.
Light gradually grows as we remember God’s promises and prepare for resurrection joy.

This reflective service acknowledges the in-between moments of life, when we wait with trust.
A simple shared meal follows at 6:15pm.

Easter Sunday — 5 April, 9:00am

Forgiven — and Free

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

We celebrate Easter morning with joy and thanksgiving.
During the service, flowers are placed on the cross, watching it come alive as a symbol of resurrection and new life. Children are especially welcome to take part.

Holy Communion is shared, and we gather afterwards for morning tea, hot cross buns, fairy floss, easter eggs and a relaxed time together.

Whether you attend regularly or are visiting, you are warmly invited to share in this Holy Week journey at St Mark’s.

All Welcome

Growing Space for Faith and Community – Our Vision for 2026

In 2026, St Mark’s is living into a shared and prayerful vision:
Growing Space for Faith and Community.

This theme invites us to make room—in our hearts, relationships, and shared ministry—for God to deepen faith, strengthen community, and welcome those who are yet to come.

It reflects both spiritual growth and thoughtful planning for the future, grounded in God’s grace and lived out together.

St Mark’s Makers

St Mark’s Makers is a key ministry of our young-at-heart vision.
Following the weekly Young at Heart message in worship, the children explore faith together through storytelling, hands-on activities, creativity, and shared reflection.

Children, families, and older members learn side by side—discovering that faith is something we live and grow together.

Saturday Sunset Service (Monthly)

A relaxed informal time of worship from 5.30pm and a shared meal at 6.15pm.

All ages are welcome.

Faith Lived Through Compassion

An important expression of compassion at St Mark’s is Mission Possible.

For many years, the church has supported this ministry through donations of non-perishable food items, personal care items, and financial gifts.

These are collected weekly and distributed to support victims and families affected by domestic violence, and to provide care packages for people experiencing homelessness.

Mission Possible reminds us that growing space for faith and community includes practical love and care for those most in need.

Shared Mission with Pacific Lutheran College

We are grateful for our growing connection with Pacific Lutheran College.
An increasing number of staff and families worship with us, enriching our church life.

Together, we encourage a shared mission and ministry that supports staff, students, and families—walking alongside young people as they grow in learning, faith, and life.

Making Space for What God is Growing

Our Future Building Projects are a faithful response to God’s leading.
They aim to support worship, accessibility, hospitality, creativity, pastoral care, and community connection—serving both present and future generations.
